| How You Can Help |
|
Enlighten everyone you know with the true facts about what the racing industry are responsible for - most people would not knowingly wish to support or participate in cruelty that has been manufactured for nothing more than profit. Handout our leaflets outside betting shops inviting the general public to become more aware. Even with all the documented evidence of suffering and death, there are still people out there who are not mindful of what goes on. Some of course will never care, whilst others are hard line punters who will never change their minds, but the majority of people do not want to be associated with such brutality. Write to your MP putting questions to them asking why this sickening cruelty is being used in the name of so called sport? Write to newspapers, Radio and TV detailing your outrage. Also ask them not to cover greyhound racing on their sports pages and sports programmes. Collect signatures on anti-greyhound racing petitions, hold fund raising events to help end greyhound suffering or join a local anti-greyhound racing group, and become actively involved in the campaign to end racing. |

Action For Greyhounds UK is run as a not-for-profit organisation and relies on the generosity of its supporters and members of the public to fund its ongoing campaign. All dogs rescued, fostered and re-homed through Action For Greyhounds UK are inoculated, wormed, and neutered/spayed and receive any medical treatment they may require, all of which costs money. You can contribute to our campaign in a number of ways: > Hold fund raising events > Set up a standing order (click here to download a form) > Send a cheque or Postal Order made payable to Action For Greyhounds UK to the address on our home page > Make a donation direct using a Debit or Credit Card by clicking on the PayPal UK link, below:

| Adopt A Dog |
|
We believe that owners/trainers and the greyhound racing industry should be responsible for financing the rescue and re-homing of the greyhounds which they use, and then dispose of. It should not be the responsibility of individual people, animal charities/sanctuaries, and groups throughout the UK, when the profit has already been made by those who are using these dogs as a profiteering commodity. We therefore do not participate in re-homing trainers/owners dogs directly, unless they sign a statement saying that they will no longer be involved in the breeding or racing of greyhounds. We are totally opposed to greyhound racing and will not compromise with the racing industry by aiding it or supporting it, or by helping with the recycling of greyhounds to enable the next generation to be used for profit and then to be discarded. Most of these dogs for adoption are, however, the end result of the racing industry or, where lurches have been rescued, some have come from being used for illegal coursing. Somewhere along their sad short lives, having been forced to endure a life of misery with individuals that are no more than the dregs of the earth, they have somehow managed to find a decent human being who has reached out to save their life. These are those dogs – each dog is special in their own way, and each dog has love to share. If you have love to offer in return, then please contact us. All dogs leave our care receiving any veterinary treatment needed at the time, which will be paid for by us, and all have been inoculated, wormed, and neutered/spayed. All homes will be homed checked. Click here to view our Adoption Form. |
| Offer a Foster Home |
|
We are always seeking 'fosters' homes for greyhounds that are in need of somewhere to go until a permanent home can be found. On some occasions we receive urgent calls, whereby someone has found an injured or stray greyhound, or know of a greyhound that is in danger if it can't be re-homed quickly, and due to various circumstances the person/people who has found the dog are unable to keep it themselves overnight, or for a day, have tried rescue centres, and they are all full, then they are left with not knowing what to do with a dog that they are trying to help. Dog wardens don’t work at weekends, not all police stations have holding kennels, and thankfully, most people wanting to help have no wish to leave a dog where they can't be reassured that it won't be put to sleep. When this happens and we are contacted, because we are not a rescue centre and have no kennelling facilities, we desperately try to accommodate however we can, but it can be extremely difficult when trying to place a dog in such emergencies, especially when nothing is known about the dog or its character. Please contact us if you would be able to provide a temporary foster home, indicating the length or duration of time that you would be able to foster or give shelter to - i.e. if it could be for one day, one night, one week, one month, etc - or until we were able to find a permanent home. One of the most effective ways in which you can help is by not attending greyhound racing and by never betting on greyhound racing.
Once the racing industry is financially starved of monetary resources it will automatically die a natural death.
We have consumer power on our side and we are therefore in a unique position of not having to reply on different Governments to 'ban'
racing - when enough people boycott it, it will end.
